New vs old campaigns
The insights on this page are currently only available for campaigns that started on or after 1 May 2022. For campaigns older than this, the old Analytics page is the place to go for campaign analytics.
This is while we migrate the data for older campaigns across to our new data source, so that we can then display these on the new page too.
For campaigns that started before 1 May 2022, the page will simply display the list of scripts in the campaign, and provide a link to the analytics page in the side panel on the right of the page.
Page header
At the top of the page is the campaign name and client logo. Click the client logo to navigate back to the client page.
On the right hand side of the header is the campaign status (live, complete, etc) and the bookmark button. Clicking this button will add/remove the campaign from your bookmarked campaigns, allowing you to then filter the campaigns overview page to see only those campaigns.
Side panel
On the right hand side of the page is the side panel, which contains more information about the campaign, and some buttons to perform actions:
The campaign start and end dates are displayed at the top of the side panel. Just below this, depending on the start date of the campaign, are one or two buttons. If insights are visible on the page, and you have permission to share insights, there is a Share button. Click this to copy a shareable link to the clipboard.
Alongside this is the download button. Clicking this will download a zip file containing all the campaign insights data and chart images.
If insights are not visible due to the campaign start date being before 1 May 2022, there will instead be a single button linking to the old Analytics page.
The combined target impressions for the campaign, and the description of the campaign in Studio is shown beneath the dates and action buttons. The target impression figure is calculated as the sum of all the campaign scripts’ targets:
Finally, the campaign activity feed shows all updates made to the campaign; this includes updates to the campaign details or any of the campaign scripts, and scripts being published:
The side panel can be collapsed and expanded, to create more space on the screen and increase chart sizes, by clicking on the arrow that appears when hovering near the edge of the panel:
Campaign impressions and metrics
At the top of the main body of the page, the current impressions total can be seen alongside the other key metrics for campaign performance:
Shown here are:
- Current total impressions
- Completion percentage of target, and time remaining with respect to campaign end date
- Projected completion percentage and total (pacing)
- Listen-through rate (LTR)
- Click-through rate (CTR, if applicable)
- Frequency (average number of times each listener heard an ad from this campaign)
- Dynamic frequency (average number of ad variants heard by each listener)
- Approximate number of listeners
A more precise number for total impressions is available by hovering the mouse over the large pink figure (1.24m in this example).
Below the total impressions figure are two progress bars, colour coded with the text above them. These represent:
- Pink: impressions served out of the impressions target
- Blue: time elapsed from campaign start date, progressing towards campaign end date
By comparing these two bars, you can get a quick idea of any campaigns that are dramatically over- or under-serving, and investigate further.
By clicking anywhere in this top section, the information will be copied to your clipboard. The data above will appear as follows once copied:
Total impressions: 1.24m
Pacing: 133.66% (4.20m)
LTR: 92.69%
CTR: 0%
Frequency: 4.76
Dynamic Frequency: 1.04
Listeners: 547.91k
Alerts
Underneath the impressions and metrics, there may be a red bar indicating any alerts associated with the campaign. We will be adding more alerts as the page is developed further. These will appear when there is an error or warning that should be displayed; otherwise, the page appears without an alert section.
Impressions vs time chart
The area chart below the campaign insights displays impressions per script over time:
Below the chart, the legend shows the colours that represent each script (hidden here for confidentiality). Clicking these will toggle the series on/off in the chart.
To save space, the campaign name is stripped out of script names when they are displayed in the legend; for example in a campaign called “My Campaign”, a script called “My Campaign Dynamic Script” would appear simply as “Dynamic Script”.
The chart can be shown in cumulative mode, as above, which displays impressions incrementing over time towards the campaign target. Also visible are two pacing lines:
- Black dash: required pacing to reach target
- Red: current pacing
These can be used to see quickly whether the campaign is running over or under the required pace (the relationship between these lines matches the projected completion percentage above).
When the “cumulative” toggle is deactivated, the chart instead displays the impressions delivered in individual 4-hour blocks:
The second toggle allows you to see the impressions delivered so far, in the context of the length of the campaign:
Chart download button
On each chart on the page, there is a small “download” icon in the top right corner. Whereas the main download button in the side panel downloads all campaign data and images into a zip file, using the download icon on a single chart will download only the data and image(s) related to that chart.
Script insights
The lower part of the insights page contains script-specific insights. This requires the user to select a script to view, if more than one script or version has been published.
At the top of the script insights section is the script selector, and to the right of this are the script impressions and metrics (if more than one script/version has been published). This allows you to choose the script for which you would like to view insights and charts.
If the script has multiple versions, these are shown beneath the script name. Selecting each one of these will update the script impressions, metrics and charts:
The current impressions total and key metrics follow the same pattern as those for the campaign, as described above. In this case, the script completion percentage is calculated using the individual script’s target impressions.
Device types and operating systems
The first charts displaying script delivery insights are the Device Type and Operating System bars. These show the split of listener device types and operating systems for the selected script:
Most-played variants
Each time an impression is served to a listener, the combination of lines they heard is recorded. This allows us to report the most-played variants of the ad, along with the lines that combine to make each variant:
Each variant is shown with the number of impressions it received. Clicking one of the variants will play the audio, and display the combination of lines beneath.
Script flow
The script flow diagram shows the impressions received per dynamic line in the selected script. The script starts on the left, and flows to the right. It is split into sections:
- Grey sections are static (non-dynamic)
- Blue sections are dynamic
Dynamic (blue) sections show the top 25 lines played in that section, in descending order. The thickness of the line is proportional to the number of impressions received for that section of the script. As a space-saving measure, if lines include a line number at the start (eg. 1.33) this is all that will be displayed on the diagram:
At the bottom of this column, we can see that 4 lines in the section received 0 impressions. Clicking on this bar will expand a list of the four lines, to allow further investigation into why they may not be delivering.
The column header of the blue section contains the name of that section of the script, icons representing the rules used to make the section dynamic, and the number of lines in the section. Clicking on this header will open the detail panel, showing more information about this section of the script:
Here you can quickly see the number of impressions to the default line in the section (next to the yellow star icon). Below, all the lines are shown with their impressions, both as a number and as a percentage of the section’s total impressions.
The grid displays the conditions applied to each line, for each of the rules used in this section (in this example, Location and Custom Text).
The contents of the detail panel can be filtered and sorted using the text field and dropdown at the top right, and closed by clicking on the X icon or the shaded area to the left.
The diagram can be filtered by clicking on a single line in one of the dynamic sections:
This shows the impressions received by all other lines in the script when line 1.34 was heard. This is useful in certain situations for checking that the correct combination of lines is being played. To clear the selection, click on the pink bar at the bottom of the column.
Sequence chart
The final chart (if applicable) is the sequence chart, which displays the impressions and listeners received by the first section of the selected script to use the Sequence rule. This plays lines in a sequence (1, 2, 3 etc) and allows us to see the “burndown” of listeners who heard the ad a certain number of times:
The relationship between the impressions and unique listeners on this chart should match the value for Frequency for this script (in this case, 2.28).
If the Sequence rule wasn’t used in the script, this chart is not displayed.
Script list
At the bottom of the page is the list of scripts in the campaign. If permitted, there is also a button to create a new script in the campaign.
This list is not displayed on shared versions of the page, and for campaigns that have not started yet, this is the only thing displayed on the page.
